Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Persebaya Surabaya, Azrul Ananda, met with the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, at Jakarta City Hall after completing a cycling trip from Surabaya to Jakarta. Azrul stated that this visit was a promise he made to Pramono before he became the new leader of Jakarta. He recounted how they were watching basketball together, and Azrul jokingly said he would cycle from Surabaya to Jakarta if Pramono won. Despite thinking it would be difficult to find the right time for the journey, Azrul decided to keep his promise. His cycling journey took three days, starting on Friday and ending on Sunday. Azrul intentionally arrived in Jakarta on Sunday to avoid heavy traffic and ensure smooth cycling. He emphasized that the trip was not sponsored, and he brought all his gear on his bike. Azrul covered a total distance of 825 kilometers in three days, stopping at various places to rest overnight. Apart from fulfilling his promise to Pramono, Azrul also discussed the importance of promoting cycling culture in Jakarta and wanted the government’s support in this matter. Pramono expressed his surprise and admiration for Azrul’s commitment to cycling from Surabaya to Jakarta, emphasizing the importance of such dedication in sports. It was a gesture that showed their personal commitment to sports and a healthy lifestyle.
