A similar scenario unfolded in the second set, with Samsonova converting two out of three break point chances, double the number of Janice’s opportunities. Although Janice’s singles journey ended, she still has a chance to stay in the WTA 500 tournament. Janice will participate in the doubles event alongside Filipino tennis player Alexandra Eala. The bronze and gold medalist from the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand will start their partnership tonight at around 9:30 PM WIB. Janice/Eala will face off against the Canadian-French pair Leylah Fernandez/Kristina Mladenovic in the first round. Janice and Leylah last met in the first round of the 2026 Australian Open, where the 23-year-old Jakarta-born tennis player emerged victorious in straight sets.
